Research: leading to idea

Creating a game app the audience are able to connect through this app it will be a messenger type of app connecting to the host who made them hostage? they will receive calls, images and text messages. We may also create a website unlocks dirty secrets  inspiration from Sarah missing layout

Research: leading to idea

Through our research we want to focus on hotels or hostels within Asia- The host has a secret?  -We want to generate an initial story-line as to why we chose an hotel or hostel (background story) -Deep meanings or secrets ect. -We want to replicate it into an instillation  -Create an escape room  -audience trapped within room  -Use Arduino to create various components with the room such as sound or sensors  -To utlize a true fiction or non fiction story-line -Porto cabin would be perfect for this -Creating a promenade piece (drama term) -more then two rooms -Reception and a single room

Research: Crawford, C. (2004) On Interactive Storytelling, New Riders

http://ptgmedia.pearsoncmg.com/images/9780321864970/samplepages/0321864972.pdf - sample pages To help me in a quest for the truly interactive story Crawford provides a solid sampling of what works and doesn't work, and how to apply the lessons to your own storytelling projects. After laying out the fundamental ideas behind interactive storytelling and explaining some of the misconceptions that have crippled past efforts, the book delves into all the major systems that go into interactive storytelling: personality models, actors, props, stages, fate, verbs, history books, and more. Crawford also covers the Storytron technology he has been working on for several years, an engine that runs interactive electonic storyworlds, giving readers a first-hand look into practical storytelling methods

Gaming Research: Eyes

Image
A first person perspective horror game inspired from the popular horror game Slenderman. Find a way to escape from the haunted house while grabbing all the loot you can and keep hiding from the grisly spirit Visually stunning - may want to incorporate this within our game app? simple to play but great story-line

Gaming Research: Lifeline

In the game, players interact by choosing from two different responses to help the main character progress in the story Some decisions require looking up additional information, and if the player makes a wrong decision, it can cause Taylor to die. The plot follows the Taylor as they try to find a way back home after crashing on a foreign planet. Taylor must overcome natural and unnatural elements in order to manipulate the structures of the planet and call a spaceship to come rescue them. The game is played in real time as Taylor explores, sleeps, and interacts on the planet, so sometimes the player is left waiting for hours before they will hear from the main character again. Characters- Taylor is the main character of Lifeline. Taylor's gender is unknown to the player as the developers believe a genderless character increases players immersion into the game. Taylor finds the captain on the first day and is barely holding on to life. The player must decide whethe...
